10th Nationwide INDUSTRIAL INFORMATICS FESTIVAL

(industrial informatics festival or i2fest 2019)

The Organizing Committee, the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) Region of Greece and the International Hellenic University organize in the modern Exhibition Centre of Kavala “Apostle Mardiris” (Nea Karvali) the 10th Nationwide Industrial Informatics Festival (www.i2fest.gr) from 27 of September 2019 to 5 of October 2019.
It is a festival of New Technologies that aims to demonstrate the potential of the information in-dustry and its significant effects on the social, economic and cultural life.
The approach to this very serious issue has multiple features, in order to attract to the festival people of different ages, educational levels and technological backgrounds. The development of such an action enables everyone to understand the digital gap, to learn new practical and operation-al applications of the high technology products and to diminish the technophobia.
The i2fest offers a special program of actions aiming at providing stimuli to the students of pri-mary and secondary schools, to highlight innovative practices from Greece, to offer the opportunity for university students to present their research work and people from industry to see their innova-tive proposals and all this combined with a variety of cultural activities during the festival.
The i2fest activities are divided into three (3) basic categories:
1. Schools, Students and Parents,
2. Academic Space and Enterprises
3. Culture and Politics.
We believe that the information industry is to a high degree associated with these categories and the implementation of this crucial project is more than ever necessary.
In the category “Schools, Students and Parents”, the people of the festival are working to pro-vide simplified technological knowledge to students. They also work with the teachers in order to create an interactive learning space. The actions in this category include speeches to students and parents in the amphitheater and visits to the stands where the works of the university students are exposed.
In the category “Academic Space and Enterprises”, the people of the festival organize discus-sions with the participation of influential people of the academic and industrial space in the form of workshops. The topic of the discussions is different in each festival. The exhibition space (Tech Show) offers to the students (from the Universities of the country) a show room present their works. The businesses people can visit the exhibits and talk to the students. The four (4) best pro-jects get awards.
The category “Culture and Politics” fulfills in combination the main goals of the i2fest. The political life of each country decides the rules and lays the bases for the much-needed develop-ment. During the i2fest we organize workshops between key stakeholders (civil society, industry, academia and politicians) in order to talk about technology and economic development in our country. In parallel, we organize cultural and other events to enable the expression of the young people and to create a fun atmosphere.
The i2fest was awarded the “Educational Business Awards Praise” in 2016 in the section: “Universities: Collaboration with Business Partners and Organizations”.
The i2fest is primarily a volunteer event. Its great strength is the over 100 volunteers (stu-dents, educators and civilians) working with zeal and care in order to achieve the best possible results.
The duration of the festival is nine (9) days and at the same time with Kavala EXPO (the first 15 days of October each year). The visitors to the festival are about 4-5.000 pupils from 40 to 50 primary and secondary schools of Macedonia and Thrace, and about 10-15.000 students and civilians.
